  • This is a topic I wouldn’t mind chatting all day haha.
I actually agree with you. I feel like most of these anime games on the console are made for promotional reasons. Every time we play games like DBZ or Attack on Titan, our money and time are going to the companies and this is spreading attention to the anime. However, like you said, unlike Pokemon, these games doesn’t get much attention. The phone apps like Bleach, Sailor Moon or One Piece are more cheaper and easy to get.
I think with Pokemon, they got attention because they started off as a game and then became an anime. I remember playing the Dragon Ball Z Budokai games and Naruto Ultimate Ninja Games as a kid because they were popular in school.
Overall, anime games are fun and enjoyable for the fans but I am not sure if it can appeal to games like Mario, Crash or Call of Duty.

I really enjoyed this video discussion. Keep up with the hard work Shay!

  • Happy you made a this a topic to talk about. I’ve been more into console games but the market is changing and more popularity is going to phone apps. Anime like Pokemon, DBZ, and Naruto are popular globally and that what helps drive the market for their respective games. The same goes for gaming apps nowadays. I could see more anime being featured in game apps to come…as for which ones, I’m not entirely sure. Maybe One Punch Man. There’s tons of great anime out there but not as popular here in the US compared to Japan. Games from anime like YuYu Hakusho and Yu-Gi-Oh have pretty much gone off the map… Although not exactly an anime, I could see more gaming apps based off of Mega Man or other Capcom characters. After the surge from Pokemon Go, I don’t know what the next trend-setter for anime gaming will be for smart phones. Only time will tell.

    Again, great topic 🙂
