Skipping Episodes In Anime?

Published May 23, 2016 by Shay Taree

Greetings everyone!!! So here is another blog post for everyone on this Monday and it’s something that I’m sure many of us have skipped episodes of anime but I’m just wondering if there are specific episodes that you have skipped.
For me the episodes that I tend to skip are recap episodes. I just find them really boring and to me they don’t really serve a purpose.

But what about all of you? What episodes do you tend to skip? Comment down below and let me know! I can’t wait to read your comments.

  • I also skip recap episodes. If I’ve been following all along, especially in a binge watch, I find little point in it. I’ll watch filler episodes just fine because there actually can be some gems among the boring unrelated stories many shows come up with. Other than that, I can’t think of many episodes I intentionally skip. I did recently fast forward through much of an episode of Cyborg 009 (2001 version) because I had a bad feeling a dog was going to die, and lo and behold….If I could predict that happening in specific episodes, I’d definitely skip those.

  • I almost always skip recap episodes and, if I’ve watched the anime before, I tend to skip filler episodes. I also tend to skip random beach excursion episodes and final episodes that occur after the main point of the anime has been resolved (again, only if I’ve watched the anime through before). Pretty much anything that breaks the flow of the story or serves no purpose in the story.

  • Recap episodes are good to have sometimes, but if I’m marathoning something, I skip it. I know a lot of people say stuff like, “Sailor Moon 90s is too long!”, so if I was watching it for the first time, I probably would use one of those no-filler guides. Definitely would use one if I wanted to watch the long-running shounen series like Naruto.

  • I will admit, I am One Piece fan but there are some arcs, canon and filler, where I miss out. I do plan to go back and watch the past episodes but not anytime soon. If you ask me where am I at in watching One Piece, it would be disorganized. One Piece has tons of episodes.

  • I agree with krystilla that recap episodes are good to have still if your returning to watch a series you have not seen for so long ad forgot what happened last time. This was good for me when I was trying to catch up on fairytail.

But I do skip recap episodes a lot. They can get annoying.

  • I skip when things become boring. I love One Piece, but that fishman island arc right after the time skip was appalling. The fight scenes were drawn out too long and the supporting characters were really boring. Just had to skip to the end when I was about 3/4 of the way done.
